In this infographic, we use a 3D simulation to illustrate how eye tracking detects where a person is looking by analyzing the reflection on the cornea and the position of the pupil center. Infrared light creates a strong reflection, allowing the system to accurately calculate the gaze direction.
We also illustrate how laser eye surgery (e.g., LASIK) can impact accuracy of eye tracking. By altering the shape of the cornea, the surgery changes how light reflects, which can lead to calibration errors and affect tracking accuracy.
