CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (Feb.12, 2015) – iMotions announces support for new ECG and EMG modules to help researchers gather information on the heart and muscle contractions while synchronizing this information precisely with stimuli and other biometric sensors.
Many researchers today require a more in-depth look at the heart in addition to metrics like the heart rate. Leveraging the electocardiagram (ECG) information from the Shimmer EXG, it’s now possible to derive information about electrical impulses as they travel through the heart muscle. This five-wire, four channel solution brings a flexible solution to peer into the workings of the heart as subjects perform various tasks.
The electromyogram (EMG) information offered by the EMG module gives researchers leveraging Attention Tool another channel of biometric data to work with. Now it’s possible to synchronize the detection of electrical impulses into Attention Tool, giving yet another biometric signal for further analysis.
The new modules have a wide range of applicability, from sports scientists to clinical research and more. Combined with the other modules offered by iMotions, like eye tracking, GSR, EEG, and facial expression analysis, a more complete picture can be created on the physiological reactions of a participant in relation to exposure to stimuli.
“The addition of these modules and their integration with the Shimmer EXG offers a great new method to look at human behavior and physiology. By synchronizing these signals with other biometric sensors, researchers can now get insights based on reactions for comparison with cognitive questions, across various groups, and more,”
